CIO Perspectives came to town yesterday (July 17) and put on a conference at the Back Bay Events Center.  Boston SIM President Tom Catalini was one of the featured speakers.  His topic was: Beyond our Comfort Zones: IT Leadership Lessons for the Social Era. Boston SIM Golf Outing: A Great Day on the Links!

The 12th annual Boston SIM Golf Outing took place at Cyprian Keyes Golf Course yesterday (June 19th). was a sell-out with 146 golfers participated in the 18-hole tournament and a total of 177 participants, sponsors and partners attended the awards dinner.  It’s a major fundraiser for our Outreach Partners. How Mobile is Changing the Customer Experience

David Chang, Chief Operating Officer of PayPal Media Network, spoke at our June monthly meeting.  It was an excellent talk on the growth of mobile technology and its impact on retail. Here are some nuggets from the talk: Smartphone use is growing even more rapidly than we think.  Each day more smartphones are sold around than babies born. The average consumer is never more than 3 feet from their phone and checks it 40 times per day. We had an excellent panel at the May monthly meeting discussing how organizations can best use social media.  Our focus was using social media as a collaboration tool within organizations.  We did spill into using social to work with customers.
