Boston SIM’s Kevin More and Mary Finlay named Boston Business Journal 2014 CIO Awards Winners

Two former Boston SIM Chapter President’s Kevin More and Mary Finlay have been named 2014 CIO award winners by the Boston Business Journal.  Kevin is the CIO for the May Institute and Mary is a Professor at Simmons College and was formerly the Deputy CIO at Partners Healthcare.  They will receive their awards at a June 26 breakfast at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.

Bob Bragdon, CSO Publisher, Discusses Cyber-Threats

Bob Bragdon, publisher of CSO Magazine and cyber-security expert spoke at our April 10 monthly meeting at the Newton Marriott.  About 60 attendees listened to Bob’s talk and follow-up with questions.  Bob discussed the 5 key findings from the latest version of a 10 year multi-company survey of cyber-security.  Here they are: The state of cyber-security is not good.  Many companies are in reactive mode. Insiders pose the greatest threat. Size matters.  Larger companies, in general, do a better job combating threats. Experience breeds caution.  Companies are more careful after a breach.
