Latino STEM Alliance 2018 Robotics Competition and Family Science Festival Was a Huge Success!

Submitted by Joe Monroy, SIM Boston

SIM Boston is proud to have the Latino STEM Alliance as one of our outreach partners. Their 2018 Robotics Competition, held on May 19th, was an enjoyable, fun-filled day celebrating all of the students and their acquired programming skills and knowledge of robotics and teamwork. This major end of year event allowed for students to showcase the tremendous creativity, perseverance and dedication they have developed over the course of the year while exploring STEM through LSA programs.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage with 15 exceptional exhibitors who brought activities ranging from race car exploration to ultrasound simulation. Students and families were also able to meet with representatives from local educational programs, colleges, and universities to receive important STEM related college and career readiness information.

Every year LSA continues to increase the number of students served and deepen their commitment to inspire and empower underserved youth to achieve educational and career success in STEM fields. We, at SIM Boston, are excited to support the LSA and their work which has had a positive influence on their students as they make a great impact on the STEM pipeline.

Be sure to check out the website at or follow them on Twitter & Facebook @LatinoSTEM for future LSA updates!

Please contact Lauren Cooke at if you are interested in becoming more involved.
